Make plans now to attend the NCKP Achievement Awards Banquet Friday, July 29, 2011!
The National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy Lifetime Achievement Award, NCKP's highest honor, is presented on behalf of the Frances Clark Center to individuals who have made substantial and enduring contributions to the field of piano pedagogy. It was awarded to James Lyke in 2009, to Nelita True in 2005, and posthumously to Richard Chronister in 2001. Between 1979 and 1994, the National Conference on Piano Pedagogy recognized Louise Bianchi, Frances Clark, Guy Duckworth, William Gillock, Marguerite Miller, Lynn Freeman Olson, and Robert Pace with Lifetime Achievement Awards.
This year we honor the contributions of several individuals who were instrumental to the founding and development of the National Conference on Piano Pedagogy.
In a time when wired telephones and occasional faxes were considered electronic communications and most publications started on a typewriter, and when we were still a "piano pedagogy" conference, each of these extraordinary individuals brought talent, intelligence, selfless dedication, countless hours, and remarkable spirit to an organization we have come to love. Each individual's contribution was unique, but essential and we can truly say that, without the pioneering work of each of this year's honorees, NCKP would not exist today.
The 2011 recipients of the NCKP Lifetime Achievement Award will be announced in March 2011.
Former colleagues and students of each honoree will be invited to provide a glimpse of the time they spent in the company of these extraordinary people. Prior to the ceremony, Tony Caramia and Jody Graves will perform a set of classic and beloved American popular songs in inimitable jazz interpretations. Brian Chung will serve as master of ceremonies.
Please note that there is an additional charge to attend the banquet and you must make a reservation with your registration for NCKP 2011.
